Habitat for Humanity/ Thrivent Builds Worldwide trip to Masachapa, Nicaragua
Here the volunteer team, as usual, sifted sand, mixed concrete, laid block walls, and tamped down the subfloor before pouring the slab. The highlight was certainly the four trips to the local material yard, digging mounds of sand into a flatbed truck, only to drive back to the jobsite and shovel the sand out. Forget any need to go to the gym with this manual labor.
Four generations of family were given more space to spread out from their wooden shack house. The community of local kids enjoyed broom races and a piñata at the end of the week’s festivities.
